This experience with Dimitrios on the paths around the enormous cliffs of Meteora is a must! Go see all the monasteries and try to beat the tourist buses, etc, the day prior and then do this hike. Your mind will be blown! If you can, try to schedule an evening hike. The magic happens at the sunset... Dimitrios is extremely well versed in geological and spiritual histories of the region, as well as an astute naturalist. He's an advocate for this region's local people and their natural way of life. Dimitrios is a great and easygoing guy. Even my teenager was impressed. My hope is that we could meet again in the future.
Dimitri was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. He took us all over Meteora, sharing history, natural history, local ecology, and geology. He is extremely well versed in forgeable plants of the region, showing us how to identify wild spinach, peppermint, fennel, and others. He put us at ease immediately, and also shared his recommendations for restaurants and activities in the surrounding area. This tour can be tailored to the needs of anyone who wants to go. My fiancée just had an ankle surgery and was on crutches, and we had a full and vibrant experience. Go on this tour! You will not be disappointed
Dimitrios was a fantastic guide, and we couldn’t have asked for a better time. After some delays with our transportation around Greece, he had no problem at all with adjusting for us. During the tour, he gave us plenty of background knowledge and history regarding Meteora and Kalabaka, while taking his time to make sure we got all the pictures and viewpoints we could have wanted. Afterwards, he provided great snacks and some very helpful local food recommendations. I personally look forward to returning and touring with Dimitrios in the future!
This experience was absolutely magical and one of the highlights of my time in Trikala. It was not only beautiful, but also incredibly enlightening—blending nature, local history, and hidden gems in a way that felt both peaceful and meaningful. Our host was wonderful—thoughtful, kind, and super adaptable. He brought homemade cookies and fresh apples for the walk (which was such a sweet touch!) and shaped the whole experience based on our pace and interests. His English is excellent, he’s very articulate, and you can have deep, interesting conversations with him—or if you just want to quietly take in the views, he gives you the space to do that too. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to explore the area beyond the touristy spots and connect with nature and local culture in a more personal way.
